The first World Championships to be held face-to-face in Korea since the coronavirus. This is the first face-to-face opening match in the LG Sailing Championships in four years. The last time a foreign player came to Korea to compete at a world championship was on 30 October 2019, when the semi-finals of the 24th LG Cup were held at Lakai Sand Pine Resort in Gangneung, Gangwon Province.

The first round of the main competition (Round of 24) began at 10 a.m. on the 29th at Gonjiam Resort in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do.

There are five games between China and Korea, two games between Japan and Korea, and one game between Korea and Japan. They will compete for a ticket to the round of 16 with a time limit of three hours and five 40-second moves.

The prize money for the 28th LG Bae is 300 million won for the winner, 100 million won for the runner-up, 24 million won for the fourth-place loser, 12 million won for the eighth-place loser, 6 million won for the 16th-place loser, and 4 million won for the 24th-place loser. So far, Korea has won 12 times, China 12 times, Japan twice, and Taiwan once.
