Arenas offers advice to his former team.
Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas recently appeared on his podcast ‘No Chill with Gilbert Arenas’. In it, he discussed the Golden State Warriors’ upcoming off-season.
Defending champions Golden State entered the playoffs this season as the No. 6 seed. In the first round, they completed an upset over the third-seeded Sacramento Kings, taking the series 4-3. But the good vibes didn’t last long.
Their second-round opponent was the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers. Golden State failed to win the back-to-back, falling to the Lakers 2-4 in the series.메이저놀이터
The disappointing outcome has led to a lot of speculation about Golden State’s offseason moves. Arenas, who started his NBA career in a Golden State jersey, offered some advice on their future.
“Golden State needs to acquire a player who can make Steph Curry a complete player,” Arenas said. If Kevin Durant was in Golden State, we wouldn’t be talking about this,” Arenas said.
But Golden State is already paying a huge luxury tax bill. They won’t escape the luxury tax bomb next season either. If they want to be competitive, they’ll have to consider trading Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins, who are taking up a lot of salary.
“They should see if they can trade Jordan Poole and try to find a more stable player,” Arenas said. Poole’s form has been erratic,” Arenas explained.
His pick is Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics. As part of Boston’s one-two punch with Jayson Tatum, Brown proved his worth this season by being named to the NBA Second Team.
“If I were Golden State, I’d try to get him for Poole and Andrew Wiggins,” Arenas said.
He also took note of the Brooklyn Nets’ Ben Simmons. Despite his weaknesses, including a lack of shooting and frequent injuries, Simmons could fill a similar role to Draymond Green.
Arenas said, “They could also save on the luxury tax by not re-signing Draymond Green and bringing in Ben Simmons. There are a lot of options that could happen. It all depends on Golden State’s mindset.”
Acquiring Brown in a trade package centred around a depreciating pool is not easy. Simmons is also overpaid, which makes Arenas’ advice less likely to become reality.
But it’s clear that all eyes are on Golden State to see what they do.
