Major League Baseball (MLB) Chicago White Sox closer Liam Hendricks (34), who overcame cancer, is expected to return to the big leagues soon.

In an interview with the local media on the 19th (Korean time), White Sox coach Pedro Grifpole said, “Hendricks played live while batters were training batting ahead of the game against the Kansas City Royals on the 20th at Guaranteed Field in Chicago, Illinois. I plan to pitch,” he said.

The Chicago Sun-Times, a local Chicago newspaper, reported the news and said, “Hendricks is a step toward joining the big league bullpen.”

Coach Grifol said, “After live pitching on the 20th, we will watch his physical condition.”

Hendricks went through a fight after announcing that he had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in early January. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a malignant tumor resulting from the malignant transformation of lymphoid tissue cells and is a type of blood cancer.

Hendricks, a native of Perth, Australia, was originally expected to play for the Australian national team at the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) held in March, but was misplaced because he was diagnosed with cancer.

Hendricks, who received his chemotherapy, announced the fact that he was cured through his social network service (SNS) account on April 21st.스포츠토토

Hendricks, who immediately entered rehabilitation training, was judged to be completely cured, and from the 6th of this month, after 15 days, he played in the Triple A game and raised his sense of practice.

Hendricks was hit with a home run on the 17th, his most recent Triple-A appearance, but manager Grifol said, “It happens often in rehab pitches. It doesn’t matter too much.”

When Hendricks returns, it seems to be a significant force for the White Sox bullpen.

Hendricks, wearing a White Sox uniform in 2021, made 38 saves in his first year to become the American League relief king, and also made 37 saves last year.
