Living legend Max Scherzer (39-New York Mets) is back on a winning streak.
Scherzer took the mound against the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2023 Major League Baseball game at Citi Field in Flushing, New York, on the 2nd (Korea time).
Prior to that start, Scherzer had been strong in his last three starts, allowing two runs in 18 innings. After being briefly rocked by a PED controversy in April, Scherzer has rebounded with one quality start (six innings or less) and a 5.56 ERA in his last five outings, including a start against the Detroit Tigers on 4 May.
Scherzer continued his strong outing against the Phillies. He got a little shaky early in the game with a fielding error, but used his strong stuff to shut down the Phillies.메이저사이트
The first run came in the top of the first inning. With runners on first and second, a double steal and a throwing error by catcher Francisco Alvarez led to an unearned run and a 1-0 deficit. He then gave up a sacrifice fly to Nick Castellanos to make it 0-2.
After a shaky start, Scherzer regained his composure. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the second and then induced a leadoff single in the top of the third.
The second crisis came in the top of the fourth inning. Two singles put runners on second and third, but he got the next batter, Cody Clemens, to ground out to second to end the inning. From there, he was untroubled and stayed on the mound until the seventh inning.
The team’s bats came alive during Scherzer’s outing. Jeff McNeil’s RBI single in the third inning made it 1-2, and Mark Cannon’s two-run homer in the fourth made it 3-2. In the bottom of the sixth, Mark Vientos hit a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2.
Schuerzer pitched into the seventh inning to pick up his fifth win of the season, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and five walks with nine strikeouts. He lowered his season ERA to 3.21 from 3.54. In his last four appearances, he has earned the win, making him a winning pitcher.
