South Korea U-20 coach Kim Eun-Joong has vowed to continue his team’s winning ways in the round of 16 after they finished second in their group at the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023.

“We are cautious because it’s a one-off game now, but we will prepare well to get a result,” Kim said in a local broadcast interview after South Korea’s 0-0 draw with Gambia in their third Group F match of the U-20 World Cup 2023 at the Mendoza Stadium in Argentina on 29 September. South Korea, who had already qualified for the round of 16 in three consecutive tournaments with results through the second round, played out a goalless draw in their final group game against Gambia earlier in the day.안전놀이터

South Korea finished second in the group (1 W, 2 D, 5 E) behind the Gambia (2 W, 1 D, 7 E). They will play the second-placed team from Group B, Ecuador, on 2 February next month for a place in the quarter-finals. Kim, who rotated his team against Gambia in preparation for the round of 16, said, “We played some players who hadn’t played much before. I made the starting line-up to ensure that we were physically fit.”

“The teams in the tournament are strong teams with their own colours. We need to prepare thoroughly,” he said, adding that they are ready for the round of 16.
