Jun Yong Park will fight at middleweight against Albert Durayev (34, Russia) at UFC Fight Night: Home vs. Silva on Sunday, July 16, at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This will be the first four-fight winning streak of Park’s UFC career, as he has twice won three in a row after losing one since joining the organization in 2019. A fourth straight victory would put him one step closer to breaking into the top 15 middleweights.
His opponent, Durayev, is a Chechen fighter who was a two-time welterweight and middleweight champion in Russia’s top mixed martial arts (MMA) organization, ACB (now ACA). Prior to MMA, he practiced boxing and sambo, the latter of which earned him the Russian middleweight championship. He entered the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) in 2021 and has a 1-1 record.
Park is on a three-fight winning streak, but once again faces an unranked opponent. Many fans were expecting a ranked fight, as No. 15 Andre Muniz (33, Brazil) had requested a fight with Park on social media.
“I just have to fight whatever the UFC gives me,” Park said, “I just think, ‘Now I have to prepare for another fight,'” he said.
Although he is not a ranked fighter, Durayev is a formidable opponent. “I knew him before he came to the UFC because he was an ACB champion,” Park said of Durayev, “He’s a good all-around fighter. He’s a good striker and a good wrestler, so he doesn’t have any weaknesses.” With boxing and wrestling as his main weapons, Park is expected to be a fierce fighter with both striking and ground game.메이저사이트
Park plans to temporarily take a leave of absence from his current JTBC entertainment program, “What Happened to the Avengers?” to train for the UFC and focus on MMA. “It was great to learn how to play my favorite soccer professionally,” he says, and he plans to return after his victory to showcase his “Wangsimli Ronaldo” skills.
Finally, Park concludes, “Every match is the same. I’m preparing to work hard and do my best to win.”
Park is 16-5 in his MMA career (6-2 in the UFC). His opponent, Durayev, is 15-4 overall (1-1 UFC).
The main event of the night will feature a women’s bantamweight bout between No. 3 Holly Holm (41, USA) and No. 10 Maira Bueno Silva (31, Brazil).
Silva, who is riding a three-fight winning streak after moving up from flyweight to bantamweight, will be looking to break into the top five with a victory over Holm. Against him, former champion Holm will be looking to make it two in a row as he looks to make the final title challenge of his career.
