Swedish coach Henrik Signel (47) has been appointed as the head coach of the Korean women’s national handball team, which had been vacant.

The Korea Handball Association did not disclose the contract period, but decided to entrust the baton to Coach Signal until the 2024 Paris Olympics Asian qualifiers in August. It is known that if the national team makes it to the finals of the Olympics, it is said that they will lead the team to Paris.

This is the second time that a foreign coach has led the women’s national team, after Danish coach Kim Rasmussen. 메이저사이트

Previously, the association resigned after 8 months of appointing Rasmussen, the first foreign coach of the national team. Even after winning all-out victories at the Asian Women’s Championship held in Korea in December of last year, she did not renew the contract because her performance was below expectations.

From 2007 to 2018, Signel took charge of the men’s U-18 team and the adult men’s and women’s teams of the Swedish club team Savehoff. While coaching the Sabehoff U-18 team, he was recognized for his leadership by winning three Swedish youth championships. In the Savehoff women’s team, from 2012 to 2018, she led the Swedish Championship five times.

From 2016 to 2020, she coached the Swedish women’s national team and led the national team to the semifinals at the 2017 World Championship. At the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2019 World Championships, Korea placed 7th respectively.

After stepping down from the Swedish women’s national team coaching tower in 2020, she led the Swedish club team Sköbde men’s team.

Coach Signel plans to return to Korea sometime next month and meet the players who will be summoned later. We prepare for the Olympic Asian qualifiers to be held in Japan from August 17th and the Hangzhou Asian Games from September 23rd.
