Kim Joo-won’s RBI single started things off. In the top of the second inning against LG’s Lee Ji-gang, Jason Martin singled to left, Park Se-hyuk walked, and Lee Ji-gang was hit by a pitch to put runners on second and third. Kim then stepped up to the plate and took a four-pitch changeup from Lee Ji-gang.
At this point, Kim appeared to be collecting his bat, but the ball ended up falling in front of the left-field fence for a single, bringing both runners home. After Kim’s hit, NC added one more run in the third inning to protect their lead and secure a comfortable victory.
After the game, Kim Ju-won said, “I wasn’t happy with my overall performance today, but I’m glad I was able to score the first run and it felt good. I was fortunate to have a good swing, and I was able to convert it into a scoring chance when I needed it.”
“It wasn’t a swing that I was trying to stop, but I think it was a check swing that worked, and I was lucky that it went in a direction where there were no defenders,” he said, adding, “I will do my best in every match and show good form until the end.”
